Introducing Jonna Lee...
Sweden's Razzia Records is home to a couple of my favourite female singer songwriters in recent years.
Maia Hirasawa and Hello Saferide have both released excellent debuts for the label and were joined towards the end of 2007 by Jonna Lee with her "10 pieces, 10 bruises" album.
The exquisite collection of songs has yet to see the light of day in the UK but you can view the videos for Jonna's two singles below...
First single "Dried out eyes"...
The follow up "And your love", featuring Ed Harcourt...
Jonna is due to release my favourite track from the album "I wrote this song" as her next single in Sweden accompanied by a new video.
Jonna recently performed a couple of intimate shows at London's Water Rats venue.
Backed on the first night by fiancé Claes playing the melodica and performing solo on the second the songs pulled from the album stood up well deprived of their lavish arrangements.
Jonna also managed to debut a few tracks from album number two, giving the crowd a sneak preview of things to come.
Jonna had a charming onstage persona, chatting to the crowd between songs and no doubt gained a few new fans after her performances.
I thoroughly enjoyed both sets anyway and managed to take a few pictures while being entertained...
I managed to have a brief chat with Jonna after the show.
She expressed a great interest in having her work released in the UK but was unsure whether she'd go with "10 pieces" or album number two as her UK debut.
If you'd like to get your hands on a copy of Jonna's debut the best place to start would probably be Razzia Records .
Jonna hopes to return to the UK soon for more shows so keep an eye on her My Space page for forthcoming dates.
